Birth And Postpartum Doula Care

FAQ

WHAT IS A DOULA?

A doula is a trained professional who is knowledgeable about pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I can help you to navigate your options, in order to improve both yours and your partners overall experience during this very important transition. I offer resources and evidence-based information to assist you in making informed choices that feel right to you. I will support you in your choices, and help you to advocate for your needs.

I offer information and guidance to help you prepare for labor and birth, and provide physical and emotional support to you and your partner and family throughout the entire process. After your baby is born, we help get breastfeeding off to a good start and help to ease your transition into parenthood.

Doula care is not a luxury. Studies have consistently proven that doulas are helping to change maternity outcomes for the better by decreasing the need for commonly used interventions , and subsequent risk factors. For more information, click here.

Knowledgeable birth and postpartum support was traditionally been provided by family, but this is not always possible or ideal in our modern times. As a doula I aim to fill this gap and provide calm, supportive care during the prenatal, birth and postpartum period.

The birth was perfect. Peaceful, calm, beautiful…We were surrounded by strong, supporting women. Maya, our doula, was one of them. We cannot imagine the experience without her.
